Teenage sensation Beau Greaves has revealed he could miss out on the World Championships again next year after opting to defend his WDF title at Lakeside instead this season.

Greaves has emerged as one of the most talented female darts players in recent history and has taken the PDC Women’s Series by storm this year.

She finished with almost double the prize money of Fallon Sherrock, who finished second in the Order of Merit.

This gave him one of two qualifying places available for the PDC World Darts Championship.

But Greaves had already decided that she was ready to defend her WDF Women’s World Championship title at Lakeside and would pass up the invitation.

The 19-year-old’s decision was successful and she became a two-time champion, defeating Eileen de Graaff in the final.

And it appears Greaves has no regrets at declining the invitation to play at Alexandra Palace this winter.

“I don’t like playing against men all the time,” she said.

“At the same time, this is where the money is to be made, so I have to think long term about what will be better for me financially.

He said, “At the moment I get more pleasure playing matches against women.

“My idea at the World Championships in ‘Eli Palli’ is that I will serve as tournament filler.

“I know it’s not because I’ve earned my place there and I have every right to be there. However, I feel more comfortable playing with WDF and the women.

“Playing against men is way out of my comfort zone. But the more I do it, hopefully the better I’ll get.”

The teenage sensation is clearly in no rush to play at Alexandra Palace as he has also made no commitment to play in the World Darts Championship next year.

“Money is money,” he said. “I don’t think I’m desperate for money right now.

“I don’t have to chase it down and think, ‘Where will I make more?

“I was just thinking about my career and how I would feel. If I had lost my first match at Lakeside, I wouldn’t have come anywhere close to the money I got at Alexandra Palace.

“I took the decision after careful consideration. I hope to qualify again through the women’s series next year, but I may end up in the same situation again.
