Wayne Rooney has appeared alongside his wife Coleen in a brand new promo for Rebekah Vardy’s upcoming documentary about her high-profile defamation case.

A new documentary called ‘Wagatha Christie’ Trial will take an in-depth look at Rooney’s side of the story for the first time after a judge ruled in Colleen’s favour.

The defamation case was the result of Coleen’s claim that Vardy was the person who was leaking fake stories to The Sun from a private Instagram account.

Colleen claimed that she had deliberately posted lies on the account in the hope that they would appear in newspapers after Vardy became viewable only on the social media platform.

Vardy – who broke his silence on Coleen’s public claims in August – eventually sued Coleen for defamation, but ultimately had to bear a large portion of the legal expenses after a judge dismissed his claim.

The trailer for Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story focuses on the new Birmingham City manager’s wife and the whole affair – as well as her husband’s trial.

The former England striker appeared to be unaware of his wife’s online spying efforts as he expressed his surprise during a sit-down interview with her.

Addressing the incident publicly for the first time, the 37-year-old told the interviewer in an excerpt from the trailer: “What has he done here?”

Throughout the trailer, clips are shown of the Rooneys arriving and leaving the High Court, where the hearing took place.

And Wayne’s first time in line isn’t the only eye-catching scene in the explosive promo.

“Do you still have that post on your phone?” is asked in the interview as the trailer begins, to which Coleen replies: “Yeah… those are my words and I stand by them.”

Coleen added during the promo: “Someone on my personal account was informing The Sun newspaper about my personal posts and stories.

“I thought, ‘I’m going to do something about this’,” she adds. “I needed proof, I needed to set a trap.”

Coleen later admitted she “never imagined getting into a legal battle” after sharing the initial post, before making light of Verdi’s first reaction.

“I had a message from Rebekah, ‘What is this?'” Coleen revealed. “I replied, ‘You know what it is.'”

The documentary will also explore how the trial affected her well-being, as the trailer shows Colleen saying: “It was constantly on my mind. My dad said, ‘You’re not you anymore.'”

And the trailer ends with a defiant taunt from Colleen as she tells the camera: “Don’t play games with a girl who can play better.”

While promoting the show, Coleen shared the promo on her Instagram profile and even took a page from the post, highlighting Agnipariksha in the caption.

“It’s…time for my account,” Coleen captioned the clip to her 936k followers, prompting a flood of excited comments about the series.

The documentary will premiere on Wednesday, October 18 on Disney+.
