Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday that if the United States goes to war against Russia it would be very different from the war in Ukraine.

His comments came after a panel appointed by the US Congress said on Thursday that the US should prepare for a possible war with Russia and China together.

The panel suggested that the US should expand its conventional forces, strengthen alliances and enhance its nuclear weapons modernization program.

Putin told Kremlin reporter Pavel Zarubin that ideas of war between Russia and the United States were unhealthy but if people were making such ideas public it would cause concern for Moscow. reuters Report.

“I don’t think these are healthy thoughts in the minds of healthy people, because to say that the United States is preparing for war with Russia, well, we are all preparing for war because we follow the ancient doctrine. “If you want peace, get ready for war,” Putin said in a video clip posted on Telegram.

“But we want peace,” he said, laughing. “Besides, fighting with both Russia and China is nonsense – I don’t think it’s serious. I think they’re just scaring each other.”

“And if they wanted to fight with Russia, it would be a completely different war – it would not trigger a special military operation,” Putin said. “Look at the Middle East – would it be a special military operation? Is – can you compare them?”

“If we talk about war between great nuclear powers it will be a completely different story. I don’t think people in their right mind can think of such a thing, but if such a thought comes to their mind then it may cause us to be alert.”

The Russian President also said that the US has increased tensions with China by creating “AUKUS”, a security alliance of the US, Australia and Britain.

According to the United States, both China and Russia are modernizing their nuclear weapons.

If China continues its current pace of nuclear construction, it is likely to have a stockpile of 1,500 nuclear weapons by 2035.

According to the Federation of American Scientists, Russia controls about 5,889 nuclear weapons by 2023, while the US controls 5,244.
