This Friday will mark 10 years since Michael Schumacher’s tragic skiing accident.

The German was on holiday in the French Alps when he lost his way and crashed, the moment the 54-year-old’s life changed forever.

For a decade now, people around the world have been kept in the dark regarding Schumacher and his condition.

Except for a few words from his wife Corinna, it is not known how the German is these days.

Speaking in 2021, he said the Ferrari icon was ‘here’ but ‘different’.

Schumacher deserves sympathy and immense credit for the way he has been able to keep details about the Formula One legend a secret.

Corinna has worked to ensure that Schumacher gets the privacy he needs while he is away from the spotlight.

However, there have been four unpleasant incidents over the years by individuals trying to exploit Schumacher and his great name.

The first incident occurred in 2013, after the accident, when it emerged that a journalist had tried to disguise himself as a priest to obtain information about the driver.

The following year, a man was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the theft and leaking of the victim star’s medical file.

The man, whose identity was not released, worked as an executive at Rega, a Swiss helicopter air rescue company.

He always denied any wrongdoing but was later found dead in the police cell.

Schumacher’s family spokesperson Sabine Kamm reacted, saying: “We are at a loss for words and we are deeply shocked.”

In 2016, another terrible story happened.

A close friend of Schumacher, who again has not been named, apparently took the photo of the F1 icon.

He then contacted the German media and attempted to sell the image for the huge sum of £1 million.

German prosecutors then investigated the case and Kehm responded by saying: “Michael’s health is not a public issue, and therefore we will not comment in that regard.

“It’s also because we have to protect her intimate area.

“From a legal point of view, and in the long run, any statement related to their health will reduce the limits of their intimate sphere.

“We know this may be difficult for some people to understand but we do this with full commitment to Michael’s guidelines and can only thank people for their understanding.

“Michael has always been very protective of his privacy, even during the most successful times of his career.

“He has always ensured that there is a clear and distinct line between his public persona and his private persona.”

The fourth scam happened this year.

In April, a German magazine ran an ‘interview’ with Schumacher that was actually fake and generated by artificial intelligence.

The editor was fired and Die Actuel apologized profusely for the story they had run on their front page.

All these years, fans have remained curious for news about Schumacher.

However, they are unlikely to get their wish.

And this is best given the serious nature of their injuries and the impact they have had on their loved ones and friends.
