According to Kapai, she and Kouchoukos, who married in April 2022, decided to pursue surrogacy in Colombia because a friend of hers “had said really good things about the process there.”

“There were a few things that really stood out to us in terms of doing them abroad. One, it was a little expensive to do it here. It is very expensive,” he explains. “But even putting that aside, there were parts of the process that we loved hearing about in Colombia, one of which was, for example, in Colombia, the amount of effort they’ll go to get a baby in your womb , Will do weapons.”

“What if Colombia decides in six months that they want to repeal some of their laws when it comes to surrogacy or when it comes to their LGBTQ+ laws?” Kapai asked. “Because today, Colombia is a very, very, very pro-LGBTQ+ country… but what if that changes?

“It’s a legitimate concern for us because not only do we have to worry about, OK, medically how is this going to happen, but legally the last thing we want to do is go through this whole process And then you may be told, ‘Don’t deport your child back to the country for any reason,’ says Kapai.

During their visit, the Bravo stars also got the chance to meet potential surrogates one-on-one, although they have not yet selected their surrogates. “We have chosen our egg donor, which is really exciting,” Kapai revealed.

As far as the specifics of surrogacy go, Kapai says she and her husband are planning to do an “egg split,” adding, “We’ll split the egg and fertilize half with Nicholas’ sperm. Although the couple hopes to have more children in the future, Kapai is hopeful that their first child will be a girl.
