A recent leak revealed that Grand Theft Auto V planned to take players back to Liberty City at one point.

So, it’s not unrealistic to imagine that Rockstar Games will take players back in time when GTA 6 arrives on consoles in 2025.

Excitement for the game is growing, with the first trailer recently taking the internet by storm.

The clip, which is just one minute and 30 seconds long, has been viewed 159 million times in just three weeks.

It is now known that GTA 6 will see players return to Vice City, one of the series’ most iconic settings.

Based in Miami, it first appeared in 2002’s GTA: Vice City.

Players were given the chance to control gangster Tommy Vercetti, voiced by the late great Ray Liotta, who becomes the city’s kingpin by the time the credits start rolling.

Vice City also returned in 2006’s Vice City Stories, with Victor Vance as that game’s protagonist.

However, the modern version of the fictional city appears to be a level above anything ever seen before.

But while one city is wonderful, two would be a dream.

And GTA fans were saddened to learn how close they came to returning to Liberty City in GTA 5.

The city, which is based on New York, has appeared in several titles over the years.

GTA 3, GTA: Liberty City Stories and GTA IV are some of the games that have allowed players to visit the Big Apple.

To be fair, Liberty City appears in GTA V in a very limited capacity.

Players who decide to visit the in-game cinema can watch an entertaining film set in the same city from GTA IV.

But a recent leak revealed that GTA 5 actually plans to bring players back in the form of DLC.

GTA V’s source code revealed that a DLC was appropriately named ‘Liberty City’. However, Rockstar was not able to follow through on its initial plans.

Many think this is due to the success of GTA: Online, which has become a juggernaut in its own right.

However, it’s also possible that Rockstar was simply saving this blockbuster return for the next installment of the franchise.

This, of course, would match some long-standing rumors that Rockstar wants to give fans more than one city to create chaos in.

YouTuber Broggy1322 recently spoke to GQ Magazine, saying that he’s heard whispers about Rockstar looking to incorporate both Liberty City and Los Santos into one massive game.

“As far as I understand, Rockstar’s top brass have long had a desire to have a GTA game with multiple cities at once,” he said.

“And honestly, as a player, to be able to do something in Vice City, and then jump on a jumbo jet to Liberty City, or Los Santos, this is the ultimate GTA game.”

At present, it is not clear whether this will happen or not.

But the prospect of visiting more than one city full of chaos certainly sounds appealing.

And if Liberty City was planned for GTA 6, why wasn’t it planned for GTA 6 instead?
