France’s Versailles Palace has barred its visitors for security reasons and will be closed on Tuesday, the Château de Versailles said on the social network X.

BFM TV, citing police sources, said a bomb squad was heading to the scene. “For security reasons, the Palace of Versailles is expelling visitors and closing today,” the establishment said on its official account on X (formerly Twitter). The former French royal residence was evacuated earlier on Saturday after an unidentified bomb threat.

On October 14, a day after a teacher was killed in an Islamist attack, a bomb alert – which turned out to be false – forced the evacuation of the Louvre Museum, the Palace of Versailles and Paris’ Gare de Lyon train station.
