Bill Belichick may have to make a shock move following his departure from the New England Patriots, according to Aaron McMann.

The sports reporter told GB News that the veteran coach has “a number of options” with vacancies throughout the NFL.

Despite McMann saying a move to Belichick is in the works, he believes the “failures” he experienced while coaching the Patriots could work against him.

“The Patriots have had two losing seasons in a row over the last few years,” he said.

“They’ve gone five years in a row without a playoff win. I think time has moved on from Belichick, he’s 71 now.

“He had a great season in New England, winning six Super Bowls, but one could argue that the wheels fell off the wagon once Tom Brady left the team in 2019.”

While McMann believes Belichick is “definitely” not going to return to New England, he believes another franchise could work for him.

He interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday after firing their head coach Arthur Smith earlier this month.

“His boss mentioned Belichick as a legitimate candidate for the job. Atlanta is definitely a place worth visiting.

“The Carolina Panthers are another one, they fired their head coach after Week 11, but their owner is a little suspicious.

“Belichick might be a name they’re considering, they haven’t interviewed him yet, but I think they’ll consider it.”

The coach enjoyed a remarkable 24 seasons in New England and will always be remembered as a legend in the state after winning the Super Bowl six times.

During a press conference earlier this month, Patriots owner Robert Kraft paid tribute to the coach he considers the best of all-time.

“This is a step we have mutually agreed upon and is needed at this time,” Craft said.

“In my opinion, what Bill accomplished will never be duplicated.”

Belichick said he would “always be a Patriot” before thanking Kraft and his family for the opportunity and support.
