And Nick Shacklock from Online-Bedroom, speaking to the Daily Mail, says the widespread spread in the UK is very likely to be a result of fans traveling to see England in action.

“It is estimated that over a million fans will be heading to Rugby Village,” he said.

‘If everyone is using public transport while Paris is hit by bedbug infestations, it is more likely that the outbreak is heading towards our shores.’

He said: “It is advisable to keep bin bags or thick plastic bags on the seats when using the metro as they do not like to stick to the smooth plastic material.

“We also recommend being cautious when you get to your hotel room.

“Check under your sheets and vacuum the entire room as bugs may be hiding under the mattress and on the sofa.”

France is still struggling to deal with the bedbug outbreak.

The French government has also closed several secondary schools in the country as a result of the issue.

In cities like Marseille and Lyon, citizens are abandoning their mattresses.

The pictures show garbage scattered on the streets, with local people also throwing out other items of furniture.

Natalie Schenkowsky, a rugby fan, has told the Mail she is worried about traveling to France because of a bed bug infestation.

“I’m going to Marseille tomorrow for a rugby-packed weekend and the bedbug situation is definitely making me a little wary,” she said.

“It also feels like a transition that we shouldn’t be having in this day and age?

“I’m not taking my own sheets, but definitely won’t be sitting on any transportation seats and will keep a close eye on the bugs in our Airbnb.

“I will be traveling to Marseille with friends and family – we secured tickets almost a year ago and they are for the England and Wales game.

“We were so looking forward to it, but bedbugs won’t ruin the weekend – although I can’t lie, I have had some nightmares after watching viral videos of bugs on transport – which we would actively avoid if we could. Are.

“I’ll definitely be rooting for England, although my boyfriend used to work for the Wales rugby team so it will be great to watch too.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has insisted that every possible effort is being made in the city to stop bedbugs from causing chaos.

“It’s a real source of concern, right? People are worried about these bugs in Paris that are causing problems in London,” he said.

“I was in contact with TfL last week and this weekend.

“We are taking steps to ensure we don’t have those problems in London, not only in relation to the Tubes and regular cleaning of our buses, but also talking to Eurostar.

“TfL has one of the best methods for cleaning our properties on a nightly basis.

“We are talking to our friends in Paris to see if there are any lessons worth learning.

“For various reasons we do not believe these issues will arise in London – but there is no reluctance from TfL.”

TfL itself has said: “We are monitoring our network closely but we are not aware of any outbreaks in London.

“We are continuing to implement our rigorous and thorough cleaning measures that have been proven to keep both the interior and exterior of our trains clean.

“We are committed to providing a clean and safe environment for our customers and staff on our bus, Tube and rail services, and we want to reassure our customers that we will maintain our already high standards of cleanliness. “We will continue to do so, so our employees and customers can use the network securely and with confidence.”
