2024 Lok Sabha elections: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to announce its candidates for the Lok Sabha amid speculations that top party leaders are encouraging some Rajya Sabha veterans to enter the fray, according to a report. . The Times of India.

Sources said this would open doors for others in the Rajya Sabha, however, no final decision has been taken yet. He said that some prominent faces may also be asked to contest the elections.

“It is more appropriate to announce the Lok Sabha elections earlier as PM Modi’s popularity will be reflected more strongly in the central elections,” he said, adding that the party may start announcing the names of candidates by the end of January. Expected to be out in February or March.

BJP plans to achieve an “unprecedented majority” in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections after a landslide victory in the assembly elections in 3 states – Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

In a recent meeting, senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi made major strategies before the elections.

During the meeting, PM Modi urged key organizational leaders to work towards increasing the party’s vote share to 10%, while Home Minister Amit Shah said the opposition should be “stunned” by the BJP’s performance.

The Prime Minister also called for increasing the BJP’s vote share by 10% from its performance in the 2019 elections, when the ruling party got over 37% of the votes, while the National Democratic Alliance led by it got around 45% of the votes.

The party’s top leadership did not set any specific seat target but stressed on ensuring a victory that should be bigger than its 2019 performance when the BJP had won 303 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats.

He also stressed the need to reach out to women, youth, farmers and the poor – whom he often described as the four largest “castes”, and called on party leaders to reach out to maximum numbers of these people in the ongoing ‘Vicit Bharat’.
