Tyson Fury could have a big role in denying a blockbuster heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder as the latter two prepare for their respective bouts in Saudi Arabia this evening.

Joshua and Wilder headline the Day of Reckoning card in Riyadh in one of the biggest boxing events in history.

This card is being seen as preparation for a final agreement between Joshua and Wilder to fight each other next year.

But while both boxers have said how much they would like that to happen, it all depends on them winning their respective bouts in Riyadh.

Joshua will face his toughest test in 2023 against Swedish veteran Otto Wallin, who gave Fury a tough test in 2019.

Wilder faces an equally tough challenge against Joseph Parker, who has been working with Fury in the gym to prepare for today’s fight.

Joseph has been astute in seeking out the same man who stopped Wilder’s boxing career in its tracks after Fury defeated the American in a trilogy.

If Fury’s advice to Parker works and the New Zealander beats Wilder, Joshua may have to wait for another blockbuster match.

Parker spoke this week about Fury’s influence when the pair recently met.

Parker said, “It was very important to go to England and meet Tyson, who had beaten him twice.”

“He is the most knowledgeable about Wilder and what he represents.

“He has always been supportive of my career and takes the time to offer advice, so it’s very important that we did this.”

He added, “Obviously he’s the world champion and he gave me the best workout I’ve ever had.

“I’m not 6ft 9in like Tyson and I don’t have the longest reach, but I will use the strength I have to my advantage.

“He gives me great tips and we talk on a daily basis and he keeps giving me more tips here and there. He tells us what he’s thinking.”

” Fury also issued some public advice to Parker last month when he was asked what the Kiwi heavyweight should try to avoid.

He said: “Don’t get hit in the face with a right hand from one of those big KOs and you’ll be fine.

“Avoid the right hand! That’s my advice to Parker. What more can you say?

“Don’t hit with the right hand and you will win the fight.

“Easy day, huh? Seems easy anyway. I think Parker would do that.”
