‘The world is getting ready for us’: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on India’s growing geopolitical clout – Gudstory

Emphasizing India’s growing geopolitical clout, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday said the country should strive to prepare for a bigger role in today’s world order. He also said that the nation should prepare for this role with a sense of historical and civilizational responsibility.

“I can tell you that the world is really getting ready for us today. It is we who must make the effort to prepare for a greater role and to do so we must do it with a sense of historical and civilizational responsibility Will happen,” S said. Jaishankar was delivering the third P Parameswaranji Memorial Lecture organized by Bharatiya Vichar Kendram (BVK), the flagship organization of the Sangh Parivar, on Saturday.

“We should never forget our history, we should never forget our civilization because that’s what separates us from everyone else,” he said.

He also gave the example of India’s relations with its neighborhood where India came forward to help its neighboring countries. During his speech he said that India’s neighboring countries feel more secure because their trust and respect for India has increased.

“Today our neighbors are safer because there is India. People saw it during Covid. Sri Lanka saw it during the economic crisis. The IMF was still debating what to do,” Jaishankar said. “We were the ones who took action.” India’s intervention in the island nation during the economic crisis a few years ago.
