Overall, the sport is pretty cool. I’ve learned to keep my favorite childhood teams at a healthy distance and I advise all Chicago sports fans to do the same. I spend most of the year in awe of the technical displays of the world’s brightest athletes.

I even started paying more attention to tournaments that I didn’t watch growing up. The CBS Sports soccer studio crew is excellent. There have been clips from the show in my YouTube algorithm all year, and one of these clips reminded me of watching the Champions League final. I enjoyed watching Man City win the title for the first time – as well as commenting on social media about Meg Thee Stallion’s boyfriend, Romelu Lukaku.

During the summer she also participated in some regular season WNBA games. The Las Vegas Aces are fun to watch. A’Ja Wilson is not the primary ball handler, but she completely controls the pace of the game. She is the most dominant and amazing basketball player of all time.

It has been a great sporting year. There was even real college football National championship controversy. It’s been a long time since I’ve encountered one of those. Despised college football fans are truly a treat.

However, the sport involves humans, so it is far from perfect. Saudi blood money is flowing into sports now more than ever, and it’s still like pulling teeth to hire blacks as head football coaches and offensive coordinators at the collegiate and NFL levels.

Money is ugly at the highest levels, so I’m not holding my breath for sport to become a leader in the fight for justice for all. But since it’s Christmas time, I have a few requests.

If old sportsman St. Nick surfs sports sites, maybe he can grant some of my holiday wishes. I’ve been a good kid this year. I haven’t had any battles with trolls and bots online or IRL. My requests will also make the sport better for everyone.
