Sylvester Stallone has paid tribute to Oscar nominee and fellow Rocky legend Burt Young following his death.

Young died on October 8 in Los Angeles, US, at the age of 83, his daughter told The New York Times.

His manager Linda Bensky also said of his death: “Burt was an actor of tremendous emotional range.

“He can make you cry and he can scare you to death, but the real compassion I experienced was the poignancy of his soul. That’s where it came from,” she told People.

No cause or location of Young’s death has been given, but tributes have poured in since the news broke.

It also included Rocky lead actor Sylvester Stallone, who wrote alongside a scene from the hit film: “My dear friend, Burt Young, you were an incredible man and artist.

Addressing his 16.6 million followers, he wrote: “The world and I will miss you…RIP.”

It didn’t take long for Sly’s followers and Rocky fans to take to the comments section to share their own tributes.

Responding to Stallone’s post, one fan wrote: “RIP Pauley! An amazing actor. You will be missed Burt!”

Another echoed: “Rocky taught me that a friend can be imperfect, moody, and stubborn, but a good friend never leaves us, like Paulie. Thanks for being a part of my childhood, Burt!”

Another said: “Truly heartbreaking and he will be missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace and may God console his family and loved ones…”

While a fourth said: “What a sad day for us all. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend. He is irreplaceable and unforgettable.” (Thus)

Young played the iconic role of Paulie, a butcher and brother of Adrian (played by Talia Shire), in the Rocky films.

Pauley, who frequently imparted words of wisdom to Rocky on his path to boxing glory, was also responsible for the franchise’s famous punching beef scene.

As well as Rocky, Young’s CV includes credits for The 1974’s Chinatown, Law & Order SVU and Miami Vice.

Young is survived by his daughter, a brother, Robert, and a grandson. His wife, Gloria, died in 1974.
