Ronnie O’Sullivan has issued a statement confirming he is withdrawing from the German Masters.

Rocket has had a busy start to the year, most recently defeating Ali Carter in the finals of the Masters before getting the better of Judd Trump at the World Grand Prix.

However, O’Sullivan and his father have been critical of the snooker program and Barry Hearn has faced considerable criticism.

And the 48-year-old has now moved to Ax to confirm he will withdraw from the German Masters, with the snooker star keen to make ‘health and wellbeing’ his priority.

He said, “Hi guys, I want to let my fans in Germany know that sadly I have decided to withdraw from the German Masters next week.”

“I love this event and my fans in Germany but I have to prioritize my health and well-being.

“It’s been an exhausting and challenging season for me so far, regardless of how it looks with tournament wins, so hopefully you understand.

“I’m sorry I won’t be there and I hope to see you all soon.”

Fans have responded to O’Sullivan and supported his decision to step down.

“Your health comes first, Ronnie,” said one user, who also accompanied her message with a thumbs up emoji.

He said, “All the best Ronnie, take plenty of rest and come back fresh for 8-8-8.”

A third said: “No problem Ronnie, the main thing is you come back to Ham this year.”

A fourth messaged O’Sullivan, saying: “Hope you’re doing well. Take the time you need to get back to 100 per cent, both physically and mentally.”

And a fifth said: “Keep calm and cool Ronnie, we’re right behind you.”

O’Sullivan was ill during his recent Masters victory.

And Carter accused the snooker star of ‘spitting all over the floor’ after his defeat.

However, O’Sullivan was angry at his opponent’s comments and said Carter needed to ‘sort out his f***ing life’.

,[Carter] Her bullshit life needs to be sorted out,” he fumed.

“I wouldn’t walk around this anymore, tip-toeing on eggshells around a guy like that. He’s a nightmare.
