Here are the top ten updates:

1. Around 77,000 persons are expected to attend the event, with 42,000 allocated for the general public. Notably, French President Emmanuel Macron will be the special chief guest of this year’s festival.

2. As per the traffic advisory, the Republic Day Parade is scheduled to start from Vijay Chowk at 10:30 am and proceed towards Red Fort grounds. Additionally, a related event is scheduled to take place at the National War Memorial near India Gate at 9:30 am. There will be extensive traffic arrangements and restrictions on the parade route. The advisory said the parade will pass through Vijay Chowk, Duty Path, C-Hexagon, Subhash Chandra Bose Roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg and Red Fort.

3. The focus of this year’s Republic Day lies on the themes ‘Developed India’ and ‘India: Mother of Democracy’, representing the country’s aspirations and its role as a nurturer of democracy.

4. According to Defense Secretary Giridhar Armane, the parade will predominantly include women marching contingents, who will form an important part of the procession. Tableaux representing States, Union Territories, Central Ministries and organizations will primarily showcase the diverse cultural richness, unity and progress of India.

5. For the first time, the parade will witness an unprecedented initiative in which 100 women artistes will lead the procession, showcasing their proficiency in playing Indian musical instruments. The festival will begin with the mesmerizing sounds of conch, nadaswaram and nagara, which will be skillfully performed by these women artistes. “This year’s Republic Day parade will see the best representation of women,” the Defense Secretary said.

6. Additionally, the chief guest of this year’s Republic Day parade will be French President Emmanuel Macron. Adding to the international participation, a marching squad of 95 members and a band squad of 33 members from France will actively participate in the parade.

7. In a collaborative display, along with Indian Air Force aircraft, the French Air Force will contribute a Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft and two Rafale aircraft for the fly-past.

8. The 2024 Republic Day parade is set to begin with a notable march that will include a band and marching contingent from France. The lineup for this year’s parade will highlight various weapon systems, including the Tank T-90, Nag anti-tank guided missiles, Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher, Weapon Locating Radar System – SWATI, and other advanced military assets .

9. The Culture Ministry is set to present ‘Anant Sutra-The Endless Thread’ textile installation on the Kartavya Path as part of the Republic Day Parade. Located behind the spectators seated in the enclosures, the Anant Sutra serves as a striking tribute to the sari, which represents India’s timeless contribution to fashion.

10. ‘Anant Sutra-The Endless Thread’, the installation comprises around 1,900 sarees and curtains taken from different regions across the country, creatively arranged on wooden frames along the Kartavya Path. Each saree will be equipped with a QR code, allowing viewers to scan and access details about the intricate weaving and embroidery techniques employed in its creation.
