Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi indirectly took a dig at CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury’s decision to skip the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. Speaking to ANI, Lekhi said, “Invitations have been sent to everyone.” , Only those who have been called by Lord Ram will reach (for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at Ayodhya, Ram temple).”

Sitaram Yechury reportedly declined the invitation to attend the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya. He said, “What is happening at this inauguration ceremony is that it has been turned into a state-sponsored event with the Prime Minister, the UP CM and others holding constitutional positions…”

Yechury said, “This is simply politicization of people’s religious faith which is not in line with the Constitution. Therefore, under the circumstances, I regret not being able to attend the event.” He said, “Religion is every person’s personal choice.”

Apart from Lekhi, Vishwa Hindu Parishad also took a dig at the CPI(M) leader on Tuesday for rejecting the invitation for the January 22 inauguration ceremony.

VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal wrote on Twitter, “There are reports that the one whose name is Sitaram will not go to Ayodhya Dham. A communist,” he said. Bansal,

Bansal said in a video statement that Yechury’s party’s commitment may be something else, but it is not clear whether the CPI-M general secretary’s protest is about Lord Ram or his name. “This requires clarification,” PTI quoted him as saying.

The VHP leader said, “…the country is returning towards Ram and Ramtva, how long will you oppose them” and asked Yechury to “come back and join Ram, Ramtva and this India.” It is in your best interest now. Otherwise, people know how to react,” Bansal said.

Amid controversy over Ayodhya Ram temple ceremony, Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader Kapil Sibal quoted Year As the saying goes, “…I have Ram in my heart, I don’t work to show off to anyone… (Lord Ram is in my heart. I don’t do anything just for show)”

Sibal also expressed grief over the death of four army soldiers in Rajouri and said that Lord Ram must be wondering what has happened to his people.

“Rajouri and Poonch–After Army interrogation, 3 civilians died and 5 were injured, who are in hospital. Lord Ram must be wondering what happened to my people! Lord Ram is not the only reason to wonder. He is revered but his teachings are lost by those who revere him!” Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal posted on X,

Preparations are underway in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on December 30, during which he will inaugurate the redeveloped railway station and new airport, days before the Ram temple consecration ceremony.
