Pep Guardiola admits he will miss Jurgen Klopp after confirming he is leaving Liverpool.

The Spaniard also joked that he was ‘happy’ to see the German leave as he would now ‘sleep better’ before playing the Reds in his team’s future matches.

Guardiola told ITV: “Yes [I’m surprised] a little. a little. He is an absolutely incredible manager. I don’t know him closely but I think he’s an incredible person too.

“So I had the feeling that when he’s leaving at the end of the season, a part of us at Man City is also leaving. They’ve been our biggest rivals all these years, Liverpool.

“Personally at Dortmund and here, he has been my biggest rival. So I think he will be missed, personally I will miss him.

“I’m a bit happy because without him I’ll sleep a bit better the nights before we play against Liverpool.

“But I wish him all the best. He doesn’t need it but he’ll be back.”
