Foreign Minister Penny Wong has described Australia as being “at greater risk of conflict now than in many years” after China launched a series of high-level military exercises in the Indo-Pacific.
Speaking ahead of the UN summit in New York on Tuesday, Senator Wong pointed to China’s growing influence over the hotly contested region and said it was important to work with multiple countries to ensure that “no country dominates May it not happen.”
