A day after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla alleging ‘cash for query’ against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, politics on the issue has intensified.

Dubey, in his letter, also demanded “immediate suspension” of Moitra from the House and alleged that “bribes were exchanged between her and businessman Darshan Hiranandani for asking questions in Parliament in exchange for cash and gifts.” “

Responding to the complaint, Moitra said she would welcome any proposal once the pending breach of privilege case against ruling party members is disposed of.

Congress leader Harish Rawat said on Sunday that these allegations are nothing but BJP’s ploy to defame the opposition.

“They are nothing but BJP’s ploy to defame the opposition. They are misusing their majority and creating an atmosphere of terror,” Rawat said.

JDU leader Neeraj Kumar said on Monday that in a democracy everyone should have the freedom to ask questions. “The question asked by Mahua Moitra has become a fundamental question in this country. And BJP will also decide who will ask what in the Parliament.” MP in Narendra Modi’s rule? This is democracy and everyone has the right to ask questions,’ Neeraj Kumar said.

Apart from this, Kumar said that BJP should provide evidence in support of its allegations before giving ‘baseless statements’.

The JDU MP said, “They (BJP) should provide evidence. How can you make baseless allegations against anyone? If anyone wants to see open corruption, it is in PM Modi’s rule.”
