Manchester United fans have compared Alejandro Garnacho to Cristiano Ronaldo after the youngster’s impressive performance against Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils were facing another defeat after goals from John McGinn and Leander Dendoncker.

Yet United made a brilliant comeback in the second half, with Garnacho playing a key role.

The teenager scored twice before Rasmus Hjölund scored the winner, with the Denmark international also scoring his first Premier League goal for his new club.

It was just what United needed, after going four matches without a goal.

After the match, Garnacho was welcomed by the fans inside the ground and the 19-year-old player looked very happy with his welcome.

And online supporters have now compared the Argentina international to Ronaldo, with one X user saying: “I see a Ronaldo in this boy Garnacho.”

Another said: “Something tells me Garnacho is our next Ronaldo.”

A third said: “Garnacho reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo.”

A fourth said: “Alejandro Garnacho is totally like young Cristiano Ronaldo!

“He’s got that thing.”

And a fifth said: “Garnacho. We’ve got one there, boys. He’s weirdly like a Ronaldo-Messi combo.”

Now, the onus will be on United to ensure their victory is not another false dawn.

It has been a really struggling season so far for the club and they cannot afford any more setbacks as they look to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Garnacho will be vital if United are to finish in the top four.

And they will be hoping for another positive result when they take on Nottingham Forest on December 30 (5.30pm).

Meanwhile, Ten Hag was pleased with his forwards after United beat Villa – with the 53-year-old also insisting his side have received too much unfair criticism.

“I’m very happy that the strikers scored today, because that’s what we needed,” the Dutchman said.

“I know they are capable of it, Rasmus and Rashford and Garnacho.
