India vs Pakistan World Cup Match: The ICC (International Cricket Council) Men’s Cricket World Cup is taking place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. With the upcoming India vs Pakistan match taking place today, a front page advertisement in the print edition of Ahmedabad Times states that MakeMyTrip and HomeStays & Villas offer ‘an open invitation to Pakistani fans’.

It also mentions discount coupons offered to Pakistani citizens if certain conditions are met in which Pakistan loses the cricket match.

However, hotel aggregator HomeStays & Villas rejected the ad in a social media post and claimed that MakeMyTrip was responsible for the error, adding, “We have no connection with this absolutely offensive advertisement published by MakeMyTrip.” Homestays and villas further mention that they do not provide service. Pakistani citizens, “Our country comes before any business and we do not give our property to Pakistani citizens.”

The post drew hilarious reactions and criticism from netizens, with one user commenting, “Yes, country comes first… What is there in this that offends the countrymen. We’re jokingly pulling the neighbors’ leg, while also giving some leeway.” The user further commented, “Where are the Pakistanis on Mars now? They’re staying in our hotels in India, right?”

Another user said, “Wow, the ad was already bad, and then you guys made it even worse, are you in competition with MakeMyTrip for more self-ownership?”

While a third user commented, “Horrible ad and disclaimer, both poorly worded.” “It’s a little taunt.” Another user said, “This is a perfect example of how people from visiting countries should not be treated!”

India and Pakistan will face each other on October 14 at 2 pm at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The next match of the ICC World Cup is to be held on 4 November.
