Jurgen Klopp gave a passionate speech in front of Liverpool players when announcing his departure on Friday, according to reports.
The German, who has been in charge of the club since October 2015, shocked the football world by confirming he was leaving Anfield.
With Liverpool currently at the top of the Premier League table and five points ahead of defending champions Manchester City, it was an announcement that no one saw coming.
Klopp confirmed the news on Friday morning, but it was November when he first informed the Reds hierarchy that he was ready to move away.

However, even then, his impending departure was kept a secret.
According to The Athletic, Klopp addressed his players yesterday and gave a rousing speech for the team he has built, improved and won over the last few years.
He joked that he was to blame for his exit because Liverpool ‘had reached such a high level so quickly that he felt he could pass the reins to someone else.’
Klopp also talked about the talent in the team and insisted that they are capable of winning under a different manager in the future.
However, that may be easier said than done, given the magic the 56-year-old has shown during his spell in the dugout.
The report said that this news brought tears to the eyes of some Liverpool staff members, which has shaken the club to the core.
Klopp has not only been a successful manager, he has led Liverpool to six major trophies including winning the Premier League and Champions League.
He has also won praise for being the person he is. His passion, enthusiasm and hunger for success have taken the club to heights they never thought they would reach again.
Liverpool have not yet taken any formal stance regarding the appointment of Klopp’s successor.
Xabi Alonso is the frontrunner to take over, with the Spaniard previously spending five years with the club between 2004 and 2009.
But Alonso is not the only name that will be considered.
It has been claimed that Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi is on their radar, with the Spaniard doing wonders at the Amex Stadium despite the limited resources at his disposal.
Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou, a Liverpool fan since childhood, is another man who has been shortlisted.
A move for Thomas Frank isn’t completely out of the question, as the Dane has been thriving at Brentford for years.
And Julian Nagelsmann may also be ‘interested’, despite being appointed as manager of the Germany national team last year.

Speaking at a special press conference on Friday, Klopp said the announcement of Liverpool’s exit was a ‘relief’.
“There was relief when I took the decision and this was another thing I realized. Today [my emotion] Mixed but I’m not as emotional as I would be [when it’s over],” He said.
“I had to tell the owners, then the supporters and the players. The reaction from the players was great.”
And Klopp has made it clear that he will not have any more questions over his future until the end of the season as he looks to win all four trophies available.
He added: “After today I will not be answering any further questions on this (decision) until the end of the season.

“I had to tell a few other people earlier this week and there were a few tears, but that’s normal after being together for so long.”
On his relationship with his players, he further said, “The players I talked to, and then a few others, the players didn’t have a lot of questions.”
“We have a really strong bond. We are professionals… the agreement with the players is for a year (at the start of the season). We are fully into that year and the boys are in really good mood.”
“When I told the players it was not that they were partying, but they were training outside as usual.
“It’s different than when a manager is sacked, who just goes in and says goodbye.”
