ITV is reportedly “reviewing” a situation in which a Big Brother cast member used the word “gay” to express his irritation.

Following the “bullying” storm that engulfed evicted contestant Farida and NHS worker Kerry, the incident involved the latter and took place during the live stream of the ITV house from Sunday night to Monday morning.

It’s not the first time viewers have spoken out about the show since the reboot began this month, with Big Brother also accused by many of being “woke” – including GB News’ own Nana Akua and former celebrity Also included is contestant Ann Widdecombe.

The latest uproar was brought to light by a fan on online forum Reddit as he detailed what happened during the show’s live stream in the early hours of Monday morning.

Redditor u/Worldly-Raise-6976 reported that the action began with Jenkin, Kerry, Olivia, and Paul inside the house, while the rest of their classmates had to sleep outside as part of the week’s shopping task.

As a reward during the task, all four housemates were given the opportunity to sleep inside, and in an attempt to tease Kerry, the Redditor revealed that Jenkin and Olivia had hidden Kerry’s mattress.

Kerry was talking to Big Brother when her housemates pulled the prank and when she returned, Olivia and Jenkin told her that it was Big Brother who had moved the mattress.

The Redditor highlighted, “Kerry got very stressed, sat down on a picnic table. O&J stories are still circulating. Kerry said ‘well he’s gay’.”

The BB fan suggested that Olivia and Jenkin had “taken this ‘prank’ a little too far and should have ended it earlier when Kerry started looking quite disappointed and upset”.

However, reacting to the recap of the live stream, it appeared that Big Brother fans had little sympathy for Kerry due to his use of the word “gay” in such a manner.

“‘Well it’s gay’… another piece of the facade,” a BB fan and fellow Redditor posted in response to the recap.

While another said: “I really haven’t heard anyone use that expression in about 10 years, which is surprisingly horrible and out of date. Was actually also surprised Kerry said it on TV.”

Another agreed: “That was my idea. I remember kids in the late 80s/early 90s using this term as an insult.”

While a fourth added to the discussion by suggesting: “I hope he gets reprimanded for this.”

ITV told the Daily Star it was “reviewing” the incident. GB News has contacted ITV for comment.

Kerry has certainly proven to be one of the more divisive figures since entering the Big Brother house almost two weeks ago.

The NHS worker found herself up for the first eviction of the series against Farida but was ultimately saved by the public vote.

With nominations on the ITV show set to take place soon, fans will be tuning in to see if she can survive a second run.
