In another shocking incident of dead insects being found inside food ordered from an online platform, a Hyderabad customer found a dead lizard inside the biryani he ordered from Zomato.
The incident took place in Amberpet area of Hyderabad, where a resident had ordered chicken biryani through Zomato. Unfortunately, they found a dead insect inside the order. After opening the order, customer Vishwa Aditya found a dead lizard in it. After the incident, they received information about the problem from the hotel but there was no help to mitigate the situation.
When nothing helped, he recorded a video of the food and the dead lizard. Later he shared this scene on social media. The incident later drew sharp criticism from netizens. Taking note of the incident, Zomato said that they are ‘working on appropriate next steps.’
“Lizard in Chicken Biryani at Loni Bawarchi Hotel Hyderabad RTC Cross Road. Vishwa Aditya from DD Colony, Amberpet ordered chicken biryani online on Zomato. Family members allege that lizard was found in chicken biryani brought by Zomoto boy,” tweeted the Telugu writer on X, who was first on Twitter.
The incident drew sharp criticism on the internet, with many users sharing their experiences with the food delivery platform. Some of them termed the contaminated food as ‘lizard biryani’.
“I found a dead centipede in my butter chicken from a restaurant in Hyderabad via Zomato,” commented a user on X.
An ex user wrote, “Stop eating out to save your life, it’s just business for these restaurants, they don’t care about hygiene.”
“Will never eat biryani again,” shared one social media user.
Expressing concern, another user wrote, “I don’t know how many people ate this biryani.” Another user demanded legal action against the hotel owner.
