On December 5, the list of 100 most powerful women in the world was released by Forbes, in which 4 Indian women made it. This list is the next in a series of annual ranking lists that provide the definitive ranking of the most inspirational women.

This 20th list highlights the top female names from around the world who have made a life-changing impact on the world this year. The highest rankings were given to the most inspirational role models ranging from CEOs, entertainers, politicians and philanthropists to policy makers.

The highest ranked Indian woman is Finance Minister and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is ranked 32nd. His ranking has improved compared to last year when he finished 36th.

Indian billionaire and philanthropist, Roshni Nadar Malhotra secured the 60th rank, becoming the first Indian woman to lead a listed IT company in India. The daughter of HCL founder Shiv Nadar, she has been recognized as the richest woman in India according to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List (2019).

Steel Authority of India Chairperson Soma Mandal is at 70th rank. She was honored with the ‘CEO of the Year’ award at this year’s ETPrime Women Leadership Awards.

Famous Indian billionaire entrepreneur, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw secured the 76th rank in the list. Biocon Limited and Biocon Biologics Limited in Bangalore were founded and run by him. He has also served as the former Chairman of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

The most inspiring woman on this list is Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission. He is occupying this ranking for the second consecutive year. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde has secured the second position while US Vice President Kamala Harris is at third position. These three top rankers were successful in maintaining their top position.

Media and Entertainment Category

Famous American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has secured the fifth position. This is the first time since the inception of the list that an entertainer has made it into the top 5 most influential and powerful personalities worldwide. Swift’s ranking has improved significantly from number 79 in 2022.

She has also topped the list of Most Powerful Women in Media and Entertainment category for the year 2023. The singer joined the billionaires club in October this year and has a net worth of more than $1.1 billion. This achievement comes from his recent global eraz tour.
