On October 14, a bomb warning was issued at the historic Palace of Versailles, located in the Versailles Commune, near the French capital Paris.

Visitors present at the palace were evacuated by local authorities and security personnel and the site was closed until further notice.

Clips shared on social media showed visitors quickly rushing out as alarm bells rang.

News agency AFP quoted sources close to the matter as saying that the alert was issued after an anonymous message related to a bomb threat was received online.

This came just hours after the Louvre Museum in Paris was evacuated and closed due to “security reasons”.

The Louvre receives 30,000-40,000 tourists from all over the world because it houses masterpieces such as the iconic Mona Lisa.

The Louvre and the Versailles Palace have been closed a day after France raised its alert level following the murder of a teacher in the country’s northern city of Arras.

A teacher teaching at a school in France was stabbed to death, while another teacher and a security guard were injured. According to reports, the attacker was identified as 20-year-old Mohammed Moguchkov, a Russian citizen of Chechen origin.

French investigative agencies are investigating the case as a terrorist act. The incident comes amid reports of tension between France’s Muslim and Jewish communities over the war between Israel and Hamas. However, police officials said that the case could not be linked to the Middle East issue.
