Floyd Mayweather has emotionally said he stands with Israel after attacks on the country by Hamas militants.

The terrorist group caught Israel by surprise over the weekend by launching rocket strikes.


They also invaded parts of the country, with civilians killed and kidnapped while the conflict escalates.

Israel have since retaliated and have compared the attacks to 9/11.

Now, on Instagram, Mayweather has uploaded an emotional post condemning the war and calling for the safe return of any hostages.

“I stand with Israel against the Hamas terrorists,” the boxing icon said.

“Hamas do not represent the people of Palestine but are a terrorist group that are attacking innocent lives!

“I stand for all humans and wish for the safe return of all Americans and Israelis and any human that were kidnapped as hostages during these horrific war crimes.

“This is not a time for politics. This is a time for safety first and foremost.”

“God Bless America. God Bless Israel. God Bless Human Kind!”

Mayweather accompanied the post by sharing an image of himself from a previous visit to Jerusalem.

Other figures from the world of sport and celebrity have also condemned the attacks.

Natalie Portman, who is Israeli-born, said in a post: “My heart of shattered for the people of Israel.

“Children, women and the elderly have been murdered and abducted in their own homes.

“I am in horror at these barbaric acts and my heart is pounding with love and prayer for the families of all affected.”

Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump, stated: “Love and prayers for the people of Israel.

“What is Happening in Israel is Devastating. Watching all of these families and especially children being herded, assaulted and murdered in the streets is Heartbreaking.

“Imagine if this was happening to you?? It’s Un-fathomable.

‘Conflicts can never be resolved with violence. Unfortunately, Humanity does not understand this Universal truth.

“My heart goes out to Israel. To Families and Homes that have been destroyed.

“To children who are lost. To Innocent Victims who have Been Killed.

“Let us all Pray. For Israel. For Peace.”

Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko also shared a post in support of Israel.

However, he then deleted it after being targeted by trolls on social media.

Detroit Lions star Alex Anzalone has revealed his parents are still stranded in Israel after the attacks.

“It’s hard. [It’s] really all I’ve been thinking about,” he said.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to ‘end’ the war in a chilling threat to Hamas.

Over 300,000 troops have been mobilised – which is the largest since the 1973 Yom Kippur War when they called up 400,000 reservists.

And Netanyahu said: “Israel is at war. We didn’t want this war. It was forced upon us in the most brutal and savage way.

“But though Israel didn’t start this war, Israel will finish it.”

He also lashed out at Hamas by saying: “Hamas will understand that by attacking us, they have made a mistake of historic proportions. We will exact a price that will be remembered by them and Israel’s other enemies for decades to come.”
