The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 14 conducted searches at over 50 locations in West Bengal and Sikkim and arrested two people, including a public servant, in connection with the fake passport racket.
According to details, the Central Investigation Agency has registered a fresh case against 24 people including 16 public servants after recently receiving a complaint of fake passport racket.
“Searches are underway and several suspects are on the radar. We have recovered documents regarding the involvement of government officials in the racket,” the officer said.

Senior officials said searches were underway at around 50 locations including Kolkata, Gangtok, Siliguri and other places since last evening. A senior superintendent of the Passport Seva Laghu Kendra (PSLK) in Siliguri has been arrested along with a middleman.
The CBI team received verified information that a certain private individual is part of a network with the help of government officials who helps in issuing passports on forged papers.
