The RRTS corridor is being built for semi-high-speed regional rail service named ‘RAPIDX’ by NCRTC, a joint venture company of the Center with the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

NCRTC has been entrusted with the task of overseeing the construction of India’s first RRTS between Delhi and Meerut.

Each RAPIDX train will have six coaches, including one premium coach. One coach in every train is reserved for women and it is the coach next to the premium coach. Officials said seats in the coaches are numbered in a staggered manner, with seats reserved for women, specially-abled and senior citizens in other coaches.

Officials said the premium coaches have a different color coded seat, a provision to install a vending machine in the future, besides several additional passenger-centric features like reclining seats, coat hooks, magazine holders and footrests.

The first coach going from Delhi towards Meerut and the last coach going from Meerut to Delhi will be premium coach. It will be separated from the adjacent coach by a sliding door.

Entry into premium coaches will be possible only through the premium lounge on one platform. Equipped with comfortable padded seats, it will have a vending machine from where snacks or drinks can be purchased.

Officials said passengers can buy paper QR code-based tickets, which can be generated through ticket vending machines (TVMs) or purchased from ticket counters at RAPIDEX stations.

Unified Payment Interface or UPI-enabled ticket vending machines have been installed to purchase paper QR code-based tickets and recharge the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC).

He said passengers can use bank notes, bank cards, National Common Mobility Card and UPI to buy tickets from TVM.

The RAPIDEX smart card is expected to be launched on the inauguration day of the priority corridor, sources said.

NCMC card can be recharged with minimum value Maximum value up to 100 2,000, the NCRTC said. Also, the RRTS system will allow passengers to use any NCMC card for travel from the first day of operation.

Officials said digital QR code-based tickets can also be purchased through the NCRTC mobile application, RAPIDX Connect.

Drinking water and washroom facilities have been provided in the paid areas at the concourse level at each station.

Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers traveling with small children, arrangements for changing diapers have been made in the ladies toilets at every station.

First aid facilities are available at all RapidX stations. Ambulance service can also be arranged through CATS for any medical emergency.

For the priority section, there is a ‘Lost and Found Centre’ located at the Ghaziabad station of RAPIDEX, the working timings for which are 8 am to 8 pm. Information about lost and found items will also be available on the RAPIDX Connect app.
