The event comes after Cardi confirmed via Instagram Live earlier this month that she was “single for a minute right now.” She shared the news the same day that Offset denied rumors that he cheated on Cardi with the rapper Christian Rock,
“I never talk [to] Or touch that woman. “Honestly, man, you need some help!” Offset tweeted in response to the rapper bluefaceClaims about his infidelity.
Cardi, for her part, saw the drama as a “sign” to share her single status with fans.
“The last time I went live… I wanted to tell you guys, but I didn’t know how. So, I was like, ‘I’ve changed my mind,'” she said, before adding that she wanted to start the new year “fresh” and “open.”
She added: “I am looking forward to a new life, a fresh start. And yes, I’m excited.”
Cardi and Offset married in September 2017 after their first date in February. After splitting in 2018, the pair reconciled the following year.
Cardi filed for divorce in September 2020 after almost three years of marriage. Although she filed for dismissal of the divorce two months later, the drama between the couple did not end there. On Friday, December 15, the “WAP” musician criticized his ex-girlfriend on social media.
“@OffsetYRN you’re a bitch… and trust me, I’ll take it there!” Cardi wrote via X (formerly Twitter) before deleting the post and posting her rant on Instagram Live.
“This motherfucker really liked playing games with me when I was at my weakest, when I wasn’t the most confident, he liked playing games with me, because he knew I was an easy girl. No, she said in the video. “After all these f–king years you’ve been really doing me dirty while I’ve helped your ass, not even a–king thanks to you.” Met the bitch’s ass!”
Two days ago a source had exclusively told us weekly Cardi’s friends “remain hopeful that she and Offset are able to work things out.”
The insider continued: “They’ve been through a lot of ups and downs over the years, but have always managed to come back to each other.”
