In late 2007, paparazzo adnan ghalib was taking pictures of Britney Spears When the pop star suddenly jumped into her car to escape the crowd of photographers following her. Berry says that her relationship with Ghalib, whom she married in 2003 when she was 23, was always strained, partly because of his wandering eye. “He has no history of being honest when it comes to his relationship status,” she claims.

Nevertheless, Berry was determined to get to work. “I come from a very religious background [and] my family didn’t have [history] About divorce,” she says. “I [also had] I was constantly trying to prove my worth to get lots of people-pleasing behavior and love. Making anything real from that place was an impossible situation. (Several attempts to reach Ghalib were unsuccessful.)

According to Berry, her relationship with Ghalib was at a “high point” when he began seeing Spears. “It was the closest relationship we ever had,” she says, emphasizing that she and Ghalib were still “definitely married” at the time.

Berry says the paparazzo told her he was trying to help Spears, acting almost like a personal assistant. “Britney knew about the impending conservatorship,” Berry says. “He told me a lot of intimate things [about her] … Even mental health things.”

But Berry was not aware that Ghalib and Spears were romantically linked until January 2008, about three months into their affair, when a photo of them kissing in a Santa Barbara, California, parking lot was published. Berry was surprised. “I’m pretty sure I called him screaming and yelling. I probably messaged her 50 times and waited for her to come back,” Berry explains. WeDescribed the experience as “extremely traumatic”.

In his memoir, the woman inside meSpears claimed that she did not know that Ghalib was married during their affair. Berry, Spears’ father, says jamie — who filed a restraining order against Ghalib after Spears and Ghalib split — “was trying to inform Britney of my existence. Years later, it’s all underwater for Berry, who says she’s grateful that Spears ended her marriage. “I’m so grateful that, for whatever reason, this incredible person came into my husband’s life and took him out of my life,” she says.

Berry believes that Ghalib manipulated her and Spears. “He was very charismatic. I was never going to leave Adnan,” says Berry, who filed for legal separation on January 18, 2008. (Ghalib had filed for divorce in June 2008.)[Britney’s] The appearance was the catalyst that was strong enough to end the marriage, and I am very, very grateful indeed. I know for a fact that if I stayed in a toxic relationship I would be suicidal.
