Singer Beverley Knight has praised Strictly Come Dancing viewers who accused her of “copying” during Sunday’s results show.

The 50-year-old performed I’m on Fire on the Strictly dancefloor with the London Community Gospel Choir.

Pro dancers Katya Jones and Gorka Marquez performed a provocative dance to Knight’s song before the crowd burst into regular applause.

However, while the performance caused an uproar in the studio, many BBC viewers were not impressed and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their views.

Many accused Knight of “lip-syncing” and some even called it “embarrassing.”

One fan fumed on social media, saying: “Beverly Knight is amazing. Why is she copying Strictly? #Strictly #BeverlyKnight.”

Another said: “Very poor imitation by #BeverlyKnight”, while a third said: “I get that she’s copying but what a bloody queen she is!! #Strictly.”

Elsewhere, a fourth commented: “With brilliantly authentic dancing, it’s always a shame when the singer has to mime #Strictly.”

But Knight, clearly troubled by the claims, was keen to set the record straight on her performance.

He shared with his ex followers: “Hello everyone watching #Strictly tonight! In my entire career, I have never copied a note. Not even once.

“Killers are real people, take note,” he concluded, prompting an outpouring of support from his fans.

One fan responded to Knight’s post: “Have seen you live a few times, I’d be shocked if you did that! You don’t need that voice.

“The way Strictly is filmed makes everyone feel like they’re copying and that’s not good…” (sic)

While Knight’s performance during the results show may have been the center of attention for many, many BBC viewers disliked the show due to the fact that the results had already been leaked online.

Jodie Cundy was the unlucky celebrity who was sent out of the competition after losing the dance-off to Eddie Cady.

Cundy finished Saturday’s show in bottom place on the leaderboard, while Cadi was only a few points ahead in second place.

However, the evening belonged to Lleyton Williams, who wowed the audience with her cha cha with partner Nikita Kuzmin.

The pair impressed so much that Motsi Mabuse gave them a score of 10 for the routine – the first perfect score for a cha cha in Strictly history.
