A video that he posted on Instagram showing him flying a small plane, met with backlash from a section of upset Indian fans.

They expressed disappointment as Zampa took the catch after dismissing Indian opener Shubman Gill.

"Here's a comment for those who don't know he's not an Australian cricketer," one user posted on his video. "Relax guys, he's not a cricketer, you all have a wrong person," said another.

"Hi Adam. Sorry you are seeing all this. Just for context there is an Australian cricket player named Adam Zampa. So don't ask how some uneducated idiot mistook you for a cricket player. Just enjoy the entertainment and I apologize for the language used bro. Love to all! Take care!" Another wrote:

In the final, Zampa took one wicket with 44 runs in 10 overs. After restricting India to 240, Australia chased down the target with six wickets in hand in 43 overs, courtesy of a superb century from opener Travis Head (137 from 120 balls) and an unbeaten 50 from Marnus Labuschagne (58 from 110 balls). The win gave Australia a record-extending sixth World Cup title.
