Oleksandr Usyk has confidently claimed he has got into Tyson Fury’s mind as their blockbuster clash draws closer.

The two fighters will face each other on February 17 in Saudi Arabia in a contest that is set to enthrall the boxing world.

Fury comes into the fight with a point to prove, having worked hard for his win over Francis Ngannou last time out.

However, Usyk will be confident after winning all 21 matches of his career so far.

This builds to a classic, with both men bringing things to a fight as their showdown comes to a close.

And according to Sky Sports, Usyk has now mocked Fury by saying he has got into his opponent’s mind.

“First of all, it’s not ‘if’ I win but when I win,” the 35-year-old player said.

“When I go to sleep I imagine I’m boxing, then my hands go up. I just believe I can win.

“I got into his head and now he thinks about a rabbit instead of me. Keep thinking brother.”

Fury likes to call Usyk ‘rabbit’.

But that’s something that doesn’t bother the Ukrainian, who thinks Fury has taken the brunt of rapper Eminem’s insults.

“I’ve heard Eminem for many years, his mother used to call him the White Rabbit,” he said.

“I don’t know, I like this rapper.

“Tony Bellew once said I was a beast in boxing, I said: ‘Not really, I’m just a white rabbit.'”

While Fury will be heading into the fight to silence his critics, Usyk is just hoping to make his father proud.

The boxing star’s father died in 2012, just days after his son won a gold medal at the London Olympics.

Usyk said: “As a child I was asked who I wanted to be when I grew up, I came home and asked for advice – who should I be when I grow up?

“He said: ‘You should be a good person.’

“First of all – you need to be a nice and well-behaved person. From there, you can achieve everything else.”

Tyson Fury called Oleksandr Usyk a ‘rabbit’ before the boxing match

Usyk said earlier in the year that he never got a chance to show his late father his gold medal.

This is something that bothers him, and still excites him to this day.

Usyk recalled, “They saw me become Olympic champion, but I didn’t get back in time to show them the gold medal.”

“When I arrived he was already lying in the coffin.

“I gave him the medal, put it in his dead hand and then walked out of the room.

As the boxing fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk gets closer, their relationship grows increasingly tense

“Sometimes he comes to me the day before the fight.”

Usyk also revealed he was thinking about his father as he attended Fury’s narrow victory over Ngannou.

He said, “When I was standing among these superstars – I talked to Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, all these stars – I was thinking about my father and I thanked him.”

“I knew he was keeping an eye on me.”
