A career in insurance wasn’t always destined for Abby Davis.
Before entering the employee benefits sector, Davis went to nursing school and worked in direct patient care.
Davis Customs apart The biggest challenge of his current role is to ensure Alliant remains focused on actionable opportunities for its clients. To do this, Davis said she maintains direct contact with customers and focuses on finding solutions.
Davis explained, “My approach is very simple: I lead with the mindset that I will not just identify the problem but will always try to be part of the solution.” apart, “I think this applies to both internal and external solutions that are bound to arise in our business.”
Davis said that his tendency to “remain chronically curious” was an asset to his career.
“There’s always something to learn,” he said. “If I ever feel like I’m the smartest person in the room, I better find another room, because that’s the way we move forward.” “The way we continue to grow is to surround ourselves with people who challenge us to think critically or differently.”
Davis also prides himself on his ability to boil down complex ideas to concepts that customers can understand.
“My mentality is that if you’re talking over people’s heads, what value are you really bringing to the table?” He said. “I am proud of myself and the team working around me for being able to focus on defining the strategy as well as executing on the strategy. I never want to be seen as just an ‘ideas person’. I’m really proud that I was able to get into the weeds and find a solution.”
Davis said her greatest accomplishment is having a prosperous career while also raising two children.
“It’s not easy, nor will I ever get it right, but my ability to be a mother and have a successful career is something I’m very proud of,” she said.
