Mary Earps is in line for a windfall after becoming the winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.

The 30-year-old beat Stuart Broad and Katrina Johnson-Thompson to follow in the footsteps of Beth Mead and Emma Raducanu, who have won the award in the last two years.

Earps gained recognition after starring for England at the Women’s World Cup in the summer.

And she has also impressed at club level for Manchester United, keeping 14 WSL clean sheets last season.

Now, research conducted by CasinoAlpha.com may reveal that the Earps could earn a small fortune from sponsors in the wake of their win.

The England shot-stopper is now reportedly able to potentially earn up to £4,800 per sponsored post on the platform.

And her follower count has increased by more than 12,000 since she was crowned at the ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday night.

Although the Earps won the award, Rory McIlroy and Stuart Broad can earn more on the social media site.

It has been claimed that McIlroy, due to having the most followers compared to the other nominees, is able to earn £13,500 per sponsored Instagram post.

Broad is in second place. With over 819,000 fans on the social media platform, she is able to earn £5,200 per post.

Katrina Johnson-Thompson, who came third, can earn £2,200 for each sponsored upload.

And Frankie Dettori and Alfie Hewett, who were also nominated, could potentially earn £1,800 and £231 per post.

Commenting on the news, Tudor Turiceanu, Editor in Chief of CasinoAlpha, said: “It is great to see a range of British sporting talent again recognized with this prestigious award.

“All the nominees have shown outstanding sporting performance this year and all were deserving of the trophy.

“The Mary Earps’ victory was certainly earned because of her great accomplishments on and off the field this year.

“It is fantastic to see women and their sporting achievements being rewarded by SPOTY and it will be interesting to see if women’s football continues to grow in popularity and receive more media attention following the Earps’ win.

“Hopefully, there will be an increase in funding and participation for all recognized sports.”

The Earps weren’t the only one to win Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola won Coach of the Year after leading his Manchester City team to a sensational treble last term.
