England have reportedly invited former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson to the friendly against Brazil in March.

The Swede recently said he would love to take part in the match after revealing he had terminal cancer.

Erickson said earlier this month that doctors have told him he has a year to live his ‘best’ life.

He was diagnosed with cancer after collapsing without warning a day after a 5 km run.

The 75-year-old vowed to keep fighting the disease and live the rest of his life to the fullest.

He told Sky News that one of his goals was to attend England’s match against Brazil on 23 March.

Eriksen said: “I hope maybe in March I’ll go to England and watch England-Brazil, it would be a great, great game, like practice for the World Cup.

“That could also be final [2026] The World Cup, so that would be great.”

And it looks like his wish will be granted if he is well enough to travel to the UK.

The Daily Mail claims the FA have sent Eriksen an invitation to be the guest of honour.

Eriksen has not yet responded to the invitation but the FA are hopeful he will be fit enough to do so.

He was in charge of England between 2001 and 2006 and managed three major tournaments.

Eriksen led the Three Lions to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002, but Ronaldinho stole the headlines and embarrassed David Seaman with a long-range free kick.

The friendly match between England and Brazil falls on the same day as the match between Liverpool Legends and Ajax Legends at Anfield.

Eriksen has been a lifelong Liverpool fan and revealed that he would have loved to manage the Merseyside club throughout his career.

Reds hero Robbie Fowler revealed Eriksson was offered the chance to manage the Legends team, but it appears he may now have other arrangements at Wembley.

But Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said last week that he would happily allow Eriksen to spend a day at the club’s training ground.

“It was obviously very touching news when you heard about it,” Klopp said.

“That was the first time I heard about his admiration or love for Liverpool and he was a lifelong fan.

“I’ve heard of legends now [game] and stuff like that. I’m not in charge of that.

“The only thing I can say is that he is welcome to come here and if he wants, he can sit in my seat in my office and do my work for a day. No problem. Is.

“Being on the sidelines can be a little more difficult. To have him here and show him everything and how this amazing club has developed over the years, I think it’s definitely something we will tell him.

“I’m sure he can come and spend some wonderful hours here.”
