Anthony Joshua has revealed he was wearing his Team GB tracksuit when he was stopped by police with cannabis in 2011.

The British boxer had a difficult upbringing before establishing himself as one of the best boxers in the country.

During an interview with Louis Theroux, Joshua has now shed light on his early years.

He claims he was wearing Team GB colors when he was stopped with eight ounces of cannabis in north London in 2011 – and also says officers stopped him because he was ‘big and dark’.

Joshua also detailed his time spent in prison and how it helped him become a superstar.

“Becoming a champion was not for me,” he said.

“I was in Reading [prison] In 2009. In 2011, when I was on the Olympic team, I was stopped. As time passed I started smoking more.

,[The eight ounces] Looks like a whole pile of cash.

“When you’re big and black you can run 20 miles an hour and it’s ‘you’re speeding.’ That’s what it is. Wrong color and wrong relationship.

“It’s part of the game.”

When asked what he told police when he was captured, Joshua said: “I said, ‘I represent you.’ Come to me?'”

Joshua almost lost his spot on the Olympic team and grateful coach and mentor Rob McCracken fought for him.

He added, “The Olympic Committee, I really respect them.”

“At that time I was kicked out of the committee because of the case. I started smoking again.”

“Scene [Murphy] My mother got a call from my gym and said call your son back to the gym, he has talent.

“About six months later [trainer] Rob McCracken supported me and said, “Let him get back in the gym, he’ll figure out his life. Trust me.”

Another person Joshua is grateful towards is his mother, Yeta Odusanya.

The 34-year-old still lives with her and says he loves supporting Odusanya because of everything she has gone through.

“I still live with my mother,” the two-time world champion said.

“In our culture, we grow up in our family home, we support our parents.

“Why am I going out and leaving my mother alone for some girl?

“Family is the most important thing.

‘When a girl gets married to me, she’s not just marrying me, she’s marrying my family.’

He added: “Will we analyze everything I say and use it as a narrative to create a story?
