Air traffic up 9% to 12.7 million passengers in November; Akasa Air most punctual – Gudstory

Domestic air traffic in India grew 9% year-on-year to 12.7 million passengers, according to data from aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

In passenger load factor or capacity utilisation, SpiceJet saw an all-time high of 90.8% compared to 90.1% in October. Passenger load factor of India’s largest airline IndiGo stood at 85.6%, compared to 83.3% a month ago.

IndiGo’s market share in November stood at 61.8%, while Air India stood second with 10.5%. SpiceJet registered a growth of 6.2% in market share due to the addition of aircraft on wet lease, compared to 5% in October.

India’s youngest airline Akasa Air was the most punctual in November with on-time performance of 78.2%, while SpiceJet was the least punctual with 41.8%.
